Out of all the events/Ideas on my timeline the one I think is the most significant is multiculturalism. Multiculturalism has promoted the idea of integrating different cultures into one society. Without the idea of multiculturalism we may not have been introduced to some foods and arts from other cultures. multiculturalism helps encourage open-mindedness and diversifies our society. Multiculturalism also helps eliminate negative stereotypes of different groups of people.

Multiculturalism was known as a new awareness of diversity in American society and demands for jobs, education and politics reflect that diversity. In america academic programs dealing with specific groups began to develop to promote multiculturalism.

Culture wars were battles fought over moral values throughout the 1990s. These wars were often fought between traditionalist values vs social liberal values in the west.

The act prohibits the discrimination of disabled people in the hiring process and promoting against people with disabilities. The act also required entrances to all public places be accessible to disabled people.

The Gulf war was the first post-Cold war international crisis. In 1990 Iraq had invaded Kuwait and at the time the U.S feared Hussein might invade Saudi Arabia, a U.S ally that supplied them oil. So to prevent that from happening Bush sent U.S troops to help defend the country, but in the end Hussein retained power.

Ethnic cleansing was the mass expulsion or murder of a ethnic group from a particular area. In 1992 the Serbs used ethnic cleansing to drive out Muslims and Croats in Bosnia during the Balkan Crisis.

The don't ask, don't tell policy was made by Clinton which allowed gay and lesbian people to serve in the military. Officers were not allowed to dismiss gays from the armed forces and gay and lesbian citizens were not required to reveal their sexuality to officers.

In 1992 war broke out between Bosnia Muslims and Croats against Bosnian Serbs. The war led to the death of more than 120,000 people in Croatia and Bosnia.

The Oslo accords were a pair of agreements between israel and The Palestine Liberation Organization. The accord aimed for a plan for peace between Israel and Palestine but the accords were never fully established.

NAFTA created a free trade agreement signed by Canada, Mexico,and the United states to promote trade between the three countries. NAFTA had lifted most of the tariffs on the goods produced by the nations who signed.

Bush v. Gore was a decision made by the United states supreme court which helped settle a recount issue between George Bush and Al Gore. In the end the supreme court ruled that florida recount of vote ballots was unconstitutional.
