Sun's death
after Sun died in 1925, the GMD chosed a new leader called "Jiang Jieshi", which was a nationalist, and got helped by the soviet union, providing aim and assistance to the party , and later joining with the new party CCP, but the problem was he became increasingly anti-communist -
The northern expedition
it was a campaign led by the GMD, with help at first of the CCP, to crush the warlords, traveling through central and northern China, and for the objective to unify China, but it got divided into 2 phases as the CCP and the GMD split later -
The shanghai massacre
ocurring three months before the CCP and GMD split, the shangai massacre was a violent supression against the communist organizations in Shanghai by the forces of Jiang Jieshi, killing thousands of communists. This event is also known as the "White terror" -
The Purification Movement
the GMD carries a final series of attacks against the CCP in order to destroy the party and kill all the communist, and also peasant leaders. This made the CCP to retreat and to form an strategy to attack the GMD, and made the final split between this two parties
