  • Albany Plan of Union

    Albany Plan of Union
    Ben Franklin's 1754 proposal to create one government for the 13 colonies. It showed that all people agreed on the need for a union but they disagreed greatly on the details. During 1700's the british acted on their own to impose new taxes and new regulations on colonial trade.Those changes angered colonist who wanted to preseve the sort of loose empire that had,for so long produces many benefits at so little cost to them.
  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    In 1764, new prime minister George Gernville, proposed raising money by collecting duties already in effect. The law known as the Sugar Act turn out into effect actually lowered the duty on foregin mollasses. Gernville hoped that these measures would encougre colonists to pay taxes. The Sugar Act made the people in the colonies upset. If they only traded with Britain, they would not be able to sell their goods for as much. In addition, they lost money if they bought they same amount of sugar.
  • Stamp Act

    Law passed by Parliament that required colonist to pay taxes on printed materials. Colonists angerily protested the Stamp Act, which was to take effect in November. The colonists thought that the Stamp Act revealed a conspiracy by british officials to destroy American liberties.Colonist violently opposed thre Stamp Act which affected every colonist,they begain to work together to fight it. These people where know as "Patriots". Led to the creation of Sons of Liberty. Also lead many boycotts.

    Parliament passed another unpopluar law the Quarterinf Act.Which requires the colonies to provide housing and supplies for the british troops stationed there after the French and indian war.Which lead to the colonists complained but most went along with Paraliament.

    Townshed Act lead to colonial nonimportantion agreements. In response to the townshed Act, colonists revived their protests, boycotts, and street violence.
  • Bostion Massacre

    Bostion Massacre
    A group of colonist hurled snowballs and rocks at british soldiers guarding the Customs House.The nervious soliders fired into the crows,killing five colonist. Aftermath of which helped spark the rebellion in some of the British American colonies, which culminated in the American Revolutionary War.The Boston Massacre is one of most important events that turned colonist against there king and British acts and taxes.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    Parliament kept tax on tea. Colonists continued to boycott british tea and to drink smuggled Dutch tea. The British East India Company faced financial problems. To help the company and encourage the colonists to pay the tax, parliament passed a law allowing the company to sell directly to the colonists, which made the tea cheaper. Colonist protested that the British were trying to trick them into paying the tax.

    The colonist were outraged! In addition to closing the port.The horrified colonist called the legislation the Introlerable Acts.They rejected the idea that the British could shut down trade and change colonial willl. People reacted to the British actions with violence focreing courts of law to shut down.They assaluted anyone who appected an office under the governement. The Intolerable Act was passed by the Parliament in 1774 to punish colonists in Maddachusetts for the Boston Tea Party.
  • First Continental Congress

    Group of delegates that met in 1774 and represented all the American colonies, except Georgia. Virginia's delegates included the fiery Patrick Henry, who became famous for declaring "Give me liberty, or give me death."

They were fought on April 19, 1775, in Middlesex Country, province of Massachusetts Bay, within the towns of Lexington,Lincoln, Menotomy, and c=Cambridge near Boston. The battles marked the outbreak of open armed conflict between the kingdom of Great Britain and its thirteen colonies in the mainland of British North America.
