Missouri compromise
An act of congress which Missouri was admitted as a slave state.Maine as a free state. A division between slave and free states. It caused the civil war because it was purchase with Louisiana purchase which stated that newly purchase land would be free states. -
Nat Turner's Rebllion
Nat turner was a slave that led a rebellion in the south and 75 other slaves. This killed 51 white people over the course of two days. It causes the civil war because it resulted in even harsher laws against slaves. Also created a division between slave holders and anti political party. -

Wilmot proviso
Wilmot proviso was issued by Pennsylvania democratic congressman David Wilmot . it did not allowed the expansion of slavery in any territory. It did not pass the senate house but pass the representative house . It caused the civil war because the civil war because if it would pass. slavery wouldn't emerge in Texas which is a crop selling state. -

The compromise of 1850 is the task of holding slavery- divided union together. This caused the civil war because northern federal officials did not follow the act which upset the south. -
Kansas-Nebraska act
When america gained new territory. people always question would this be a free or slave state. This act stated that people of the two new territories could chose through voting if slavery would be legal or not. This caused the civil war because this anger the north cause they felt like this was victory for the south who wanted to expanded slavery. -

Dred Scott was a slave who believed he was free because who was living with his master in a free state. This caused the civil war because anti- slavery groups feared that slavery would begin to grow. The new republicans renewed their fight to gain control of the congress and the courts. -
John Brown Raid
John brown led a small group to town of hapers ferry. he and his man captured citizens. He hope the slave would join the raid. This caused the civil war because the south was shocked and upset. Southern politicians blamed the republican party and falsely claim Abraham Lincoln supported the raid. -
Election of Abraham Lincoln
Abraham Lincoln ran for president and won and had supported from the north he won in 1860. The south disliked it. Lincoln was head of republican party. They had an Agenda to get rid of slavery.This caused the civil war because South Carolina became it own nation and other sates follow.
