    Birth - Pre K
    Children should be encouraged to explore activites that engage their mind. They should also be exposed to a variety of areas including Math, Science, Art, Reading and Music.

    Progress of a Gifted Student and Career Readiness

  • Kindergarten - 3rd Grade

    Kindergarten - 3rd Grade
    Gifted students should be encouraged to work on theme-based projects such as hexagons. Students can identify properties and possible combinations of patterns and multiple-sided objects and shapes.
  • 4th - 5th Grade

    4th - 5th Grade
    Gifted students are encouraged to continue working on theme-based learning projects that align with grade level content. Projects would include Growth of a Tree, Measurement, and Science. Gifted students should also begin exploring their individual talents with respect to their giftedness. Students sholuld be encouraged to take the Gardner Multiple Intelligence Test to help identify their areas of giftedness.
  • Middle School

    Middle School
    When gifted students reach middle school, they should be engaged in differentiated instruction. This should include differentiation in reading levels, math abilities, and science to explore content areas. As well, gifted students in middle school should begin to develop mentorship relations with experts in their field of career interest. Perhaps even volunteering at agencies that align with their areas of interest.
  • High School

    High School
    When gifted students have reached high school, they should already have a firm understanding of their individual talents and their areas of career interest. High school is the opportunity for gifted students to set goals for their future including college and beyond. As well, gifted students should be given the opportunity to explore as many fields of interest as possible and should continue volunteering in each field to gain working knowledge and understanding of daily routines and procedures.
  • College and Career Readiness

    College and Career Readiness
    Once gifted students have reached their Freshman year in college, their career paths and future goals have already been set. However, it is important for gifted students to understand that interests and values change as they age and that it's never too late to start a new career or to change their educational goals. College is also an excellent opportunity for gifted students to complete interships in their fields of intersest to develop networking and job opportunities.
