  • The Declaration of Independence

    This was an explanation to foreign why they separeted from Great Britain. It stated that the colonies were free and independant states.
    This is important because without the declaration of independence we wouldn't be free. We would probably still be under Great Britain's rule. It is also why we celebrate the 4th of July, we shoot fireworks to remember the death of king george the thirds power over us.

  • Lewis and Clark Expedition

    Thomas Jefferson got permission to explore the west. Lewis and Clark were hired ans sent to accomplish this job. They were supposed to find a passage to the pacific ocean, and log every species of plants or animals they came into contact with along the way. They did this for 3 years, they never did find a passage, by they sure found a boatload of new species.

    When a golden nugget was found on the coast of california, thousands of people all over the world rushed to the area to claim their riches. Here by called the california gold rush. People left their homes to get big money. Tons of people died on the trip there, It wasn't worth it.
  • The Start of the Civil War

    The Start of the Civil War
    Started by mixed opinions about slavery, caused the south to secede. They south attempted to take over Fort Sumner as it was in "their territory". They fired for a few days and eventually the fort surrendered. They fight lasted four years and was the bloodiest battle in U.S. history to date.

    700 men attacked peaceful Native American villages, killing 70-163 Native Americans.
  • The End of the Civil War/ Reconstruction

    The End of the Civil War/ Reconstruction
    This was the end of the Civil War, and the start of Reconstruction. Reconstruction was very hard for both southerners and former slaves, as they were both treated horribly. Southerners were shamed on by northerners after the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. In addition, freed slaves were giving rights, but some were still cheated out of the little money they got (sharecropping). In the end, freed slaves were giving black codes which turned the tables for the 20th century.

    Americans attacked Native Americans. The battle lasted two days, which ended in the Native Americans victory. No americans lived to tell the tale.
  • "I have a dream!" Speech

    On August 28 1963 Martin Luther King Jr gave his speech that changed the United States of America forever. He gave a speech that let to equality with white people and black people.
    America learned that equality means everyone, EVERYONE. Whether your white or black, green, blue, red, yellow; it doesn't matter! Martin Luther Kings speech changed everything. "I have a dream!" -Martin Luther King Jr.
  • Apollo 11 Moon Landing

    Apollo 11 landed on the moon during the worldwide race to get there. America was responsible for NASA getting to the moon.
    A good thing that came out of this was NASA. NASA got tons of support once they beat the other countries. They were also able to launch a few other space launches.

    I was born in Pennsylvania, I have two brothers and three sisters. I really like video games, movies, and making books/movies.
  • Terrorist attacks of 9/11

    On 9/11 terrorists attacked the United States of America. They flew two planes into the world trade center, the two towers fell with over 3,00 deaths.
    We learned not to underestimate the evil of people. We let our guard down, and that opened us up to attack. But this evil that crashed into the world trade center made ordinary people heros that day. Ordinary people in boats rescued people on the island screaming for help with the smoke and debris of the twin towers coming up behind them. Heros.
