    In 1485, Columbus set out to find an easy water route to Asia. He sailed for 7 years and mistakenly found America. He thought he landed in India, so he called us Indians. If he hadn't have discovered America, we wouldn't be here today.
  • Jamestown Was Founded

    Jamestown Was Founded
    Jamestown was the first permanent English colony. It was founded in Virginia in 1607. This founding is what helped shape the nation. If Jamestown hadn't been founded, our nation wouldn't be the same as it is now.
  • Harvard: First College

    Harvard: First College
    In 1636, a vote was taken to introduce a new college called Harvard university. If this hadn't have been discovered, we would not have one of the most prestiegous colleges today.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    The Boston Tea Party was a political protest. Boston officials refused to return three ship lodes of their taxed tea so a group of colonists boarded a ship and dumped all the tea into the Boston Harbor. If this wouldn't have happened, we may still be taxed on our tea.

    The American Revolution was a political upheaval in the last of the 18th century. It was the grouping of 13 colonies in America. If this wouldn't have happened, we wouldn't be grouped as the America we love and know today.
  • Louis and Clark Expedition

    Louis and Clark Expedition
    Louis and Clark took a trip by sea to study the Missouri River. They didn't expect to find out what they did though. If they hadn't have gone, they wouldn't have discovered rivers, landscapes, and native cultures.
  • California Gold Rush

    The California Gold Rush was a gold outbreak where many people, often called 49ers, were digging for gold in California. These people were going through hard times, so the gold outbreak helped them out. If this wouldn't have happened, gold may not be as big as it is today.
  • Compromise Of 1850

    Compromise Of 1850
    This was a package of five bills, passed in September, which started a four year confrontation between the slave states and the free states over territory. If this wouldn't have happened, some states may not have gotten the territory they deserved.
  • Licoln Elected President

    Licoln Elected President
    Lincoln was a democratic president who was against slavery. He fought hard to free slaves from their terrible lives. If he hadn't have been elected, we might still haves slaves in the US today.
  • Lincoln Assassinated

    Lincoln Assassinated
    In 1865, while attending a play, Lincoln was shot by John Wilkes Booth. This devistated our nation. If he wouldn't have been shot, he could have turned our nation around.
