Charles Darwin 12 Feb 1809 - 19 April 1882
On the Origin of Species 1859, Charles Darwin created Darwinism which explains diversity on earth. Darwin breaks down evolution into 5 distinctive themes: probability & chance, nature, power & scope of selection, adaptation & teleology, nominalism vs. essentialism about species and the tempo and mode of evolutionary change. Charles Darwin and the Scientific Method
Darwin was a contributor in defining 2 laws presently accepted by biologists: the first law states all known properties of living organisms follow the laws of physics and chemistry, and the second law states that all biological processes and all the characteristics that distinguish different species have evolved by natural selection. -

Darwinism gives ways to laws In physical sciences theories are based on laws; in evolutionary biology which Darwin had helped create theories are base upon other things such as competition, female choice, selection, succession and dominance. Evolutionary biology's methods became observation, comparison and classification, as well as the testing of competing historical narratives. This moved away from the norm of experimentation. -

Charles Darwin The descent of Man
Darwin further expands his theory of natural selection in his book The Descent of Man. In this book, Darwin explains the reasoning of a hummingbird's bright feathers in terms of partner selection and draws conclusions that human too look for certain characteristics in a partner. Darwin believed he could explain the origins of the human race.
