  • 1600s

    British East India Trading Company works with Mughals to set up trading posts in India.
  • 1707

    Mughal empire ends.
  • 1757

    British East India Trading Company has its first victory against the Mughals, led by Robert Clive. British East India Trading Company establishes political control.
  • 1857

    Due to the British being insensitive to both Hindu and Muslim religions and cultures, a huge revolt breaks out among the northern peasants. This then spreads causing small uprisings to break out for a year until they fall to British power.
  • 1858

    -Britain promotes queen Victoria as ruler of India
    -Britain ridicules Hindu beliefs
    -Britain causes conflict between Hindu and Muslim people.
    -Britain makes railroads (good thing)
    -Britain makes India grow cash crops instead of food causing massive starvation.
    -Industrial revolution destroys India's textile economy. Causing many artisans to become farm laborers and make India dependent on Britain.
  • 1906

    Muslims form their own political party
  • 1947

    India gains independence (Hindu) (Muslim India becomes Pakistan)
