Dzhokhar Tsarnaev puts his knapsack on the ground at 2:45 pm. at the Forum restaurant. Both bags contained a pressure-cooker bomb with shrapnel and other materials in it as well.

    On the night of April 18, 2013 at around 10:30 pm., a 27-year-old police officer named, Sean Collier was shot in his patrol car after one of the Tsarnaev brothers attempted to steal the officer’s weapon.

    Early on Friday, April 19, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev hijack a car at gunpoint and take the driver as hostage. One of the Tsarnaev brothers tells the hostage they are the bombers of the Boston Marathon. The hostage, Dun Meng, is eventually able to escape the car and run to a gas station to call the police and tell them to track the phone he left inside the car to find the suspects.

    Early the 19th, the police were able to catch up with the hijacked car with the suspects in it because the hostage escaped and notified them. The suspects threw explosives adn grenades at the police while gunfire was exchanged. The Tsarnaev brothers then set off an explosive and Tamerlan Tsarnaev ran towards the police, shooting. The police were then able to tackle the suspect and were about to handcuff him when Dzhokhar floored on the gas.

    Once the lockdown had been lifted, David Henneberry wanted to check on his boat because the cover had came off a little. He went up to the boat and found a strange amount of blood. He has then looked further and saw a body inside the boat. He immediately called the police and soon hundreds of authorities arrived. A helicoper then hovered and used a thermal imaging camera to confirm that Dzhokhar was alive and moving in the boat. A robotic arm was used to pull off the cover more...

    As Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was being brought to the hospital, the city rejoiced. A police tweeted "CAPTURED!!! The hunt is over. The search is done. The terror is over. And justice has won. Suspect in custody." This quote shows how everyone stayed united through the whole thing and also how relieved police were as it lasted a while and was very stressful and dangerous for them. This police for instance, states that the "terror is over" which means that the awfulness is now behind.

    The FBI searched the dorm room of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev and came across a black jacket and white hat like those worn by the suspect on the day of the bombings.
  • Backpack found

    Tsarnaev's backpack is recovered by autorities at a New Bedford landfill. This was the backpack that included fireworks empied out and Vaseline (which police suspected was used to make bombs) and was thrown away by Kadyrbayev, Tazhayakov and Phillipos who didn't want to get the suspect in trouble.
  • Charges brought up against suspect's friends

    Authorities announce charges are being brought up against three of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev's friends. Two for having willfully "conspired with each other to commit an act against the United States ... by knowingly destroying, concealing and covering up objects belonging to Dzhokhar Tsarnaev." And the other for having "knowingly and willfully (made) materially false statements to federal investigators."

    On April 6, 2015, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was found guilty on all 30 charges brought against him from the bombing, and is sentenced to death.
