The bombing of Darwin on 19 February 1942 was the first big attack against Australia. 242 Japanese air planes attacked ships in Darwin that got rid of 188 air planes the town didn’t have much protection Darwin also suffered some damage from the attacks and there were a number of civilian casualties.

    The town of Broome, Western Australia was attacked by Japanese fighter planes on 3 March 1942, during World War II. At least 88 people were killed.

    At 4.18 pm on 25 July 1942 and arrived in the Townsville area from the north east at about 11.30pm. It took over half an hour before the military presence in Townsville realised there may be problems. There were only to aircrafts. Went for 15 hours.

    1. The Japanese raid on Darwin 2 May 1943 was a battle in the North Western Area Campaign of World War II. During the raid a force of over 20 Japanese bombers and Zero fighters attacked Darwin, Northern Territory, inflicting little damage on the ground. This attack was the 54th Japanese airstrike over Australia many people died.
