    Andres de Santa Cruz was sworn into office.

    Joins the Peru-Bolivian Confederation, and elects Marshal Andrés de Santa Cruz.

    Tin became the most important source of wealth. Beating out silver for the previous position.

  • Revolution

    In 1952 Víctor Paz Estenssoro led the a successful revolution. Later introducing Universal Suffrage.

  • Che Guevara

    After working with the CIA the Bolivian military tacked down and killed Che Guevara.

  • General Hugo Banzer

    General Hugo Banzer elected in the 1979 election. He implemented a special police unit to eradicate the illegal Coca growing.

  • New President

    After a military struggle, the military gave power to congress. They elected Hernán Siles Zuazo as the new chief of state.

  • Martial law

    Following the shooting of 16 people the government implemented martial law. Sanchez de Lozada, the president at the time, fled to the united states following his resignation.
