  • Boko Haram Bauchi prison raid

    At least 700 prisoners have escaped during an attack on a jail in northern Nigeria, including members of a militant Islamist sect.

  • Attack on Abuja police station

    a suicide bomber drove a car bomb onto the premises of the Louis Edet House in Abuja, the headquarters of the Nigeria Police Force. He may have been trying to kill Inspector-General of Police Hafiz Ringim, whose convoy he followed into the compound, but he was stopped by security before he could do so. It was confirmed that the bomber and a traffic policeman were killed, although authorities said there may have been up to six casualties.

  • Attack on Kano, Nigeria

    A coordinated series of bomb blasts and shooting sprees mostly targeting police stations Friday sent panicked residents of Nigeria's second biggest city running. 187 killed, 50 wounded. "We have 178 people killed in the two main hospitals," the senior doctor in Kano's Murtala Mohammed hospital said following Friday's attacks, citing records from his own and the other main hospital of Nasarawa.   • Attack on Gubio, Borno state, Nigeria

    A convoy of around 50 Boko Haram members stormed Gubio during a 5 hour attack. At least 37 killed and hundreds of buildings destroyed. The buildings burned by the fighters included eight mosques, four schools and a local government building.

  • Attack on mosque in Maiduguri, Borno, Nigeria

    2 female suicide bombers detonated an explosive near a mosque during afternoon prayers during Ramadan. Around 30 people died and 60 injured.
    One teenager exploded as she approached the mosque crowded with people performing afternoon prayers during the holy month of Ramadan.
