4 bombs rip their way through Northern Nigeria on ly a day before the inaugeration of President Goodluck Johnathan. Bombings took place on a military patrol in Maidurguri, a beer parlor in Zaria and Zuba, and a public market in Bauchi. These bombings were believed to target Jonathan- supporting areas. In result, 15 people were reported dead and at least 31 wounded.

A suicide bomber drove into the headquarters of the Nigerian Police Force, killing one officer and and wounding six others. the Boko Haram's spokesperson, Abu Zaid, claimed this when questioned on the attack: "We would speak on the details of the Mujahid [bomber] at the appropriate time but the fact is that he is a martyr who sacrificed his life for the sake of Allah,"

Thought to be targeting police, members of Boko Haram throw explosices off the back of motorbikes and detonate a local pub. The blast was said to cause 25 casualties and injure several more in Maiduguri.

A suicide bomber for the Boko Haram drove a car bomb into the Abuja United Nations building. 21 people killed and 73 people injured in addition to collapse and major damage to the ground floor of the building. Tagerting mosques, police stations, banks, and other churches, the Boko Haram use gunfire, car bombs, and suicide bombers to spread mass chaos. Masked members set to the streets setting fire and creating street shoot-outs and fights with armed force while bombs hit six churches, two banks, and several government buildings including the headquarters of Yobe state police. 3 bombs also targeted military headquarters in Maiduguri, Potiskum, and Kaduna.
