Huey P. Newton was the main leader in creating the Black Panthers. After a hard childhood and being in and out of jail, he wanted to make a chance and was sick of being pushed arounf by the whites. Huey P. Newton and Bobby Seale founded the Black Panthers Party in Oakland Califoria, which was designed to shift from peaceful protests to using threats and violence to get equal rights.

When the Black Panthers created 10 major points that they thought they deserved. These goals where what they needed and have been denied. Some included better housing and jobs as well as better education and oppertunities for the future.

J. Edgar Hoover lead an investigation about the activities of the Black Panthers with the goal of destroying the Party. This investigation killed main leaders in the Party, and arrested members of the group. He wanted to split the Party politically, and morally, through espionage, and chemical warfare.

When Huey P. Newton was accused of cold bloodedly murdering a police officer, and after a series of trials was found guilty of murdering Frey, assaulting Heanes, and kidnapping a man whose car was commandeered for the dash to the hospital. While Newton dealt with this, his attorney, Charles Garry, began his defense with a systematic assault on the grand jury system.

The Black Panthers biggest accomplishment was the concept of “revolutionary intercommunalism” which strived create 60+ community service programs and survival programs. The concept of these programs was to organize the black community so that they could survive outside the state or federal system because in this system they were underserved. These programs were to help the present and the future generations to come, and the positive institutions helped individuals meet their needs.

One issue was when 21 Black Panthers were charged for plotting to assassinate police officers and blow up buildings, so some people got out of hand with the violence and were destructive. The initial goal and mindset was put aside and not thought about with the people who acted like this. Another problem that has continued even today is murders and police brutality. There is always going to be hate and murder, but the Black Panthers violent actions increased this.
