  • Berlin Wall ( May 8, 1945)

    World War II had ended and Berlin was divided into 4 sections: American,British, West France and Soviet in the East.

  • Soviet Military

    During the instigation, of the Soviet Military ( administration) the safeguard line between East and West Germany was put into place lined with guards to prevent people from crossing.

  • Blockage Began

    On the day of June 24th, Berlin put a blockade on the wall.

  • Airlift

    On this day the Airlift began. ( basically air attacks)

  • German Democrats

    In October the German Democratic Republic was founded in 1949.

  • Border Closed

    The border between East and West Germany closed, as well as the border between East Germany and West Berlin. Only the East and West Berlin border is open.

  • The Uprising

    The East Berlin construction workers were against the imposition of increased working time.

  • Western Powers

    Western powers waive Interzonepass,as theSoviet Union continuous to follow, but Eastern German citizens need permission to travel West.

  • Permission

    If you left East Germany without permission is a violation and forbidden and go to prison for up to 3 years.

  • Sectorial Border Closing

    The sectorial border of Berlin between East and West Berlin closed.

  • Bradenburg

    Bradenburg bridge closes

  • West Berlin crossing points

    Any crossing points for West Berlin citizens were closed

  • J.F. Kennedy

    President J.F. Kennedy visits Berlin and gives a speech.

  • Visitation to East Berlin

    West Berlin citizens may visit East Berlin the first time after more than two years of living in West Berlin.

  • 4 Powers Agreement

    The 4 powers agreement over Berlin visitation was made easier for anyone in West Berlin who wanted to cross.

  • Ronald Reagan

    President Ronald Reagan visits Berlin to urge the Soviet Union leader Mikhail Gorbachev to demolish the Berlin wall.

  • Hungarian government

    The Hungarian government decided to open the border to Eastern Germany refugees.

  • Wall was opened

    Berlin wall was opened

  • Bradenburg gate

    Bradenburg gate was opened

  • Germany reunited

    East and West Germany were reunited .
