Jul 19, 1883

Benito Mussolini is born July 19, 1883 in Predappio, Italy. His parents are Allesandro Mussolini and Rosa Maltoni. Both parents were very religous. This event is important because Mussolini goes on to lead Italy as a dictator and lead them to WWII. (Notorious Lives).

Mussolini moves to Switzerland looking for job oppurtunities. He landed a few different jobs, which led to him being arrested for causing a strike. This is important because they were his first jobs (About.com).

Mussolini began his job as a newspaper editor of the Italian newspaper Avanti! The paper was a socialist newspaper. This was important because it was the start of Mussolini's political career and led him to become a fascist leader (About.com).

After with the start of World War I, Italy announces it will stay neutral. The war was triggered by the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. This event is important because it started economical problems for Europe (About.com).

Nov 1, 1914

Benito Mussolini is kicked out of the socialist party. The reason he is kicked out is because he supported Ital entering the war. This is important because he goes on to become a fascist which is opposite of socialists (About.com).

Italy declares war on Austria. This move puts them in the war. Their decision to join backfires and their economy is destroyed (About.com).

Mussolini is drafted into the war and reports to the 11th Regiment. He accepted the call and showed up. This is important because its his next job after getting fired by the socialists (About.com).

World War 1 ends. This starts the ending of the Italian monarch government. This event is important because its where Mussolini's fascists come into play (Notorious Lives).

Oct 31, 1922

Mussolini becomes prime minister of Italy. Shortly after, he declares himself dictator. This is important because its the official start of his days as leader of Italy (History.com)

Oct 1, 1935

Italy attacks and conquers Ethiopia. Mussolini finallly gets the colony he wanted. Italy is criticized for their cruelty. This is important because other Eurpean countries start to question Italy and not like them (About.com).

Mussolini and Hitler agreee to the ''pact of steel.'' This deal ties them up in the event of war. Each knew war wasa soon to come. This event is important because it marks the alliance of Italy and Germany in the war. (About.com).

Italy officially jumps into the war by declaring war on France and Britain. Mussolini is confident in his military. This is important because it marks Italy's entry to the war (About..com).

Germany invades Yugoslavia and Greece. They defeat both and save Mussolini from defeat. This is important because Italy would have surrendered and lost (About.com).

With Italy on the brink of defeat along with Germany, Mussolini attemps to flee. Him and his mistress Claretta Petacci are found and captured on their way to Switzerland (About.com).

Mussolini and his mistress are shot to death. His body is dumped on the street for people to abuse. This is important because it marks te end of the former dictator's life (About.com).
