    Christopher Columbus Discovery of Americas
    In 1492, Christopher Columbus, A Portuguese explorer, who sailed for Spain,was trying to find a faster route to India but accidentally found the Americas.(History Lessons pg. 7)
  • Establishment of Plymouth

    Establishment of Plymouth
    the establishment of Plymouth was important because it was the first successful colony in the Britsh colonies. It was established to be an example to other establishments and to show their connections with God. (America History of our Nation pg. 69).
  • Proclamation of 1763

    Proclamation of 1763
    The Proclamation of 1763 was a law proposed by the Britsh government saying that they could not cross into the Ohio River Valley( Land between the Appalachian Mountains and the Mississippi River) until they had established a government. The colonists were angry because they felt that they deserved to settle that land now because they had just fought and won that land during the French and Indian War (History of America French and Indian War).
  • Patriotic Thinking

    Patriotic Thinking
    During the 1760's and 1770's, the colonists of New England were getting angered with the unfair Taxes and Acts proposed by the British government. The first unfair Act was passed in 1767 and it was the Townshead Act. The Patriotic People of New England had enough of these unfair taxes and decided to fight for freedom which the achieved in 1783. The New England Patriots chose their name because of the patriotic actions( TCI Chapter 5 section 2).
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    The Boston Tea Pary occurred on December 16, 1773. The Boston Tea Party was when a group of Patriots in New England called, "the Sons of Liberty" decided to go on one of the Britsh boats and throw all of the Tea of to prove a statement that they didn't want any of the stupid taxes. (TCI Section 2).
  • Declaration of Independence.

    Declaration of Independence.
    The Declaration of Independence was written on July 4th, 1776. It was written so that the colonist could have written terms for them to follow when they were declaring Independence from England. This event happened in Philadelphia which is the reason for why the Philadelphia 76ers have their name. TCI section 2).
  • End of Revolutionary War.

    End of Revolutionary War.
    This event is significant because It gave hope to the people living in the U.S. that they can have their own country and it shows Britain that they are stronger then they thought. (History Lessons pg. 33.)
  • Wahington Capitals

    Wahington Capitals
    The Washington Capitals got their name form when the United States Capital was moved to Washington. Before the capital was moved to Wahington D.C., the Capital was in Philadelphia.
  • Start of Cowboy Era

    Start of Cowboy Era
    Cowboys were very popular during this time due to the uproar of the cattle industry. Cowboys were needed to drive cattle throughout Texas. The U.S. gained a lot of wealth from the profit from the cattle industry.(www.quora.com).
  • Louisiana Purchase

    Louisiana Purchase
    The Louisiana Purchase was the purchase of the Louisiana territory. At this time the Louisiana territory was owned by the French and sold to the US for a bargain price of $15 million. This is significant because it doubled the size of the US and took away the threat of the French attacking from the west (TCI Chapter 8 section 2).

    Oregon Trail
    The Oregon Trail was a deadly trail going from the east of the U.S. to the west. The Oregon trail is significant because it brought more use to the covered wagon and it brought many people wanting a new life into the west. The significance of the Trail caused the Portland Trailblazers to chose their name (History.com Oregon Trail).

    California Gold Rush
    The Gold Rush was a mass migration to California from the east of the U.S to the west of the U.S. Most people moved there in 1849 which gave the San Fransisco 49ers their name. It was very important because it provided many economic opportunities in America. (Califronia Gold Rush History.com)
  • Election of 1860

    Election of 1860
    The election of 1860 was the Election when the Republican representative Abraham Lincoln beat the Democratic representatives, Stephen Douglas, John C. Breckington and John Bell. Abraham Lincoln win in the election lead to the start of the Civil war in 1861. Even though the election of 1860 caused the civil war in all it was a good outcome because Abraham Lincoln ended slavery( Chapter 9 Section 4).
  • Battle of Fort Sumter

    Battle of Fort Sumter
    Fort Sumter was the first Battle of the American civil war. There were 75,000 combined Union and Confederate fatalities. The Battle of Fort Sumter was started by the Confederates firing first which let Lincoln gain the high ground by saying that they started the war.
  • Emancipation Proclamation

    Emancipation Proclamation
    The Emancipation Proclamation was written by Abraham Lincoln in 1863. It was written to allow slaves to fight in the Civil War. Even though it did not end slavery, it lead to the end of slavery in the United States soon after(www.archives.gov).
  • 15th Amendment passed

    15th Amendment passed
    The 15th Amendment gave the African-Americans the right to vote. This Amendment was passed following the 13th and 14th Amendment. All 3 of these Amendments were big parts of the Reconstruction Era and passed to give the African Americans more rights(TCI Chapter 11).

    Opening of Ellis Island
    Ellis Island was the main entry point for immigrants coming to the United States of America. Ellis Island was so significant because it was the gateway point to America from all other countries.(TCI chapter 15 section 3).
  • Invention of Model T

    Invention of Model T
    Henry Ford invented the Model T in 1908. The model T was the first mass-produced car in the United States of America. From this Henry ford gained lots of wealth and improved the lives of many citizens of America. The Detriot Pistons got their name from the widespread of Henty Ford's Model T and the factories located In Detriot(TCI chapter 13 section 3).

    First Indy 500
    The Indy 500 is a very famous well-known race that is in Indiana. The inventor of the race Carl Fisher created one of the richest car racing franchises in the world. The Indiana Pacers chose their name from this event because in this race Pace cars were the cars driven in this race ( History.com First Indy 500).
  • End of WWI

    End of WWI
    World War One began in 1914. It was between the Central Powers - Germany, Austria-Hungry, and the Ottoman Empire-, and the Allied Powers - US, Russia, France, Great Britain. The Allied Powers won the War and stopped the First German takeover from happening(TCI).

    End of WWII
    World War two begun in September of 1939. World War 2 was between then Axis powers - Germany, Japan, Italy - and the Allied Powers - US, Britain, Russia. the United States stopped the German forces on the European theatre and Japan on the Pacific theatre (TCI chapter 23).
  • Minneapolis Lakers

    Minneapolis Lakers
    The Lakers got their name after the historic great lakes and Minnesota's nickname, the land with 10,000 lakes. The Lakers later moved to Los Angeles and became the L.A. Lakers(.britannica.com).
  • Nasa comes to Houston

    Nasa comes to Houston
    The Johnson Space Center was named after Lyndon B. Johnson,
    the Texas Native. It was named after him because of the Act that he passed(Nasa.gov).
  • End of Cold War!

    The Cold War was a war between the United States and the Soviet Union(USSR). The Cold War spanned for 46 years from 1945 to 1991. The war started because the United States wanted to spread Democray and the USSR wanted to spread Communism(Williams Class Notes).
  • Baltimore Ravens

    Baltimore Ravens
    Originally the Baltimore Colts, the Ravens changed their name in 1996 to the Ravens after the poem written by Edgar Allen Poe. Edgar Allen Poe was buried in Baltimore thus making the Raven poem significant(Baltimore Sun).
