ARPANET was created
Charley Kline and Leonard Kleinrock tested new device that would link the Sigma 7 to another computer at Stanford. Typed LOG IN on the computer while on the phone with Stanford to confirm the message went through. Thus creating the ARPANET. -
UCLA and Stanford permanently connected
IMPs at UCLA and Stanford were permanently connected. By early December they had both been linked to the USCB and the UofU. -
ARPANET extended to the east coast
ARPANET was extended to the east coast and continued to grow and connect by more IMPs. -
Network E-mail system created
Network E-mail system was developed. First messages sent by Ray Tomlinson. -

ARPANET was declared FULLY OPERATIONAL rather then an experimental project. Including 57 IMPs across the Atlantic in London. -
