It was an impression of the scientific revolution.

A major war broke out over the succession to the Austria throne.

Europe witnessed the clash of the two major alliances: the British and Prussians against the Austrians, Russians, and French.

Britain´s world empire
William Pitt expanded the British Empire by acquiring Canada and India.
Britain controlled Canada and the thirteen colonies.
Merchants in port cities such as Charleston, New York, and Boston did not want the British government to run their affairs.

The War in North America
The British and French fought over two main areas in North America. One consisted of the waterways of the Gulf of St. Lawrence and the other area was the Ohio River valley.

Known as the Great War for Empire, it was fought in India and North America. The struggle in India between Britain and France continued. With the Treaty of Paris in 1763, the French left India to British. -
First Continental Congress
The colonies organized the First Continental Congress , which met in Philadelphia in September 1774. Members urged colonists to take up arms and organize militias.

The American Revolution
British leaders wanted to get new colonial revenues from the colonies. Opposition was widespread and often violent.
The fight between colonists and the British army started in April 1775 in Lexintong and Massachusetts.

"Common Sense"
Thomas Paine published a persuasive pamphlet called Common Sense, in this pamphlet Paine said that monarchies had been set up by seizing power from the people. This pamphlet changed the public opinion. -
The Declaration of Independence
On July 4, 1776, the Second continental Congress approved the Declaration of Independence written by Thomas Jefferson. With this the American Revolution had formally begun.
