ISI makes Abu Bakr Al-Baghadi their new leader. This is after their former leader, Abu Omar al-Baghadi, was killed. This is significant because he is still the leader to this day and makes them a huge threat. -
ISI is Renamed
ISI changes their name to ISIS. This is very big, because they did this after they announced a merger with an al-Qaeda affiliate in Syria. -
ISIS and al-Qaeda No More
al-Qaeda cuts their ties with Isis after they begin to disagree on many things. This is huge as it makes Isis less powerful. They are still very threatening though. -
Beheadings Begin
American journalist, James Foley, is the first of many innocent people to be beheaded. This man beheading him is given the nickname of "Jihadi John". This is a big deal, because ISIS is now killing American civilians. -
ISIS Attack Paris
ISIS executes SIX planned attacks on Paris, France. The tradegedy resulted in 130 victims dead, along with 7 ISIS members. The attacks happened at the France soccer stadium, cafes, restaurants, and at a concert. This is important, because it was the deadliest attack in France since WW2. There were over 360 people injured. 89 people were killed at the concert alone. This attack has put the whole world on alert.
