The ship arrived at the port of Santa Cruz. Darwin was so excited until the crew was prevented from going ashore due to a cholera outbreak in England. They would have to wait out a quarantine period of twelve days but Capt. Fitzroy would not be delayed and gave orders for the ship to proceed.
