  • The Beginning

  • Crossing the Equator

    As the Beagle crosses the equator, voyage rituals take place in which Darwin is blindfolded, shaved, and nearly thrown overboard among an overlycrowded main deck.
  • Salvador, Brazil

    Darwin explores the Brazilian rainforests for the first time, taking note of the exotic vegetation.
  • Punta Alta, Argentina

    While in Argentina, Darwin takes note of the large and interesting fossils he encounters.
  • Tierra Del Fuego, Argentina

    Captain Robert Fitzroy returns three natives back to their homeland that he had bought to England. He also attempts to begin a Christian missons trip but it ends terribly.
  • Falkland Islands

    Darwin finds the Falkland Islands dismal,bare, and arid. He finds fossils of brachiopods within primitive rocks.
  • Rio Negro, Argentina

    While in Argentina, Darwin meets the native gaucho people and experiences their lifestyle; with them he explores the Pampas geology.
  • Chiolé Island, Chile

    While on Chiolé Island, Darwin witnesses the eruption of Mount Osorno. He experiences the earthquake in the woods near Valdivia. He is shocked by the earthquake's aftermath and its detrimental effects on he island.
  • Galapagos Islands

    Darwin studies the fauna and flora of the Galapagos. He is fascinated by the large tortisuses and iguanas. He preforms dissections out of curiosity.
  • Sydney, Australia

    Darwin observes the wildlife in Australia, and is specifically interested in the marsupials. He ponders the mammal difference in Australia
  • Coco Islands (Keeling Islands)

    Darwin spends his time around the islands studying coral reef formations.
  • Mauritius

    Darwin observes the land fomations and geology of this place. He notes specific factors such as the mimosa growth and course vegetation, as well as lava deposits.
  • Cape Town, South Africa

    Darwin takes notice of the distinctive physical features. He notes the sandstone "Table Mountain" and the number of bullock wagons.
  • Bahia and Pernambuco, South America

    Darwin studies and encounters a lot of exotic, thrilling wildlife in the jungles of South America. Meanwhile, the Beagle takes an unexpected detour which sets off their path in a very rugged manner.
  • The End of a Journey

    Charles Darwin returns home, to Falmouth England. The Beagle's world wide trip has finally come to an end.
