    In 1831 Charles Darwin boarded the HMS Beagle to go one a 2 year trip, instead it took 5 years.
  • Cape Verde Islands

    The Cape Verde Islands was the first destination and Darwin's fist observations.

    Darwin and the crew passes the euator (they turned the ship into a shower bath during this time too)

    Darwin and the HMS Beagle explores the Brazilian rain forest for their first time, Charles enjoyed the rain-forest's luxurious vegetation, elegance of grass, novelty of the native plants, and the beauty of flowers.

    Darwin was very interested with the fossils, intrigued with it's gigantic size and structure.

    Captain Fitzroy attempts to start a christian mission but it fails badly
  • Falkland Islands

    Darwin's look at the Falkland Islands was "Desolate and Wretched" at first, then he spots some "primitive looking" rocks and fossiles

    As the crew of the HMS Beagle explores the fertile lowlands (Pampas) they notice this land has bearly been touched, filled of wild life

    Darwin and his crew arrived just in time for Mount Osorno's eruption, the massive earthquake affected him tremendously

    Galapagos Islands (VERY special event)

    Darwin had a bit a trouble figuring out the animals here, they are so different but mysteriously seems to relate to the mainland species and it fascinated him. And in one of his discoveries Darwin found out that a group of Galapagos specimens was actually all finches. (This is when he came up with they modern theory of evolution).
  • Sydney

    HMS Beagle takes a short rest. Darwin congratulates himself that he was born an Englishman.
  • Cocos Islands

    This is where Darwin studies Reef Growth and test out his Atoll Formation theory.
  • Mauritius

    As Darwin walks down the sea coast he observed the field of black lava covered with coarse grass and bushes.
  • Cape Town

    The first thing that caught Darwin's attention was the number of Bullock Wagons there were, he also mentioned the Table Mountain which is a height of 3,500 feet.
  • Bahia and Pernambuco

    Back in south America, Darwin this time explored the jungles. He discovers the incredible creatures that inhabit here, eventually he gets homesick and is confused when the HMS Beagle makes an unscheduled detour.

    Darwin and the rest of the crew of the HMS Beagle heads back home late in the night
