India along with East and West Pakistan gain independance from brittish rule. East Pakistan (Bangladesh) and West Pakistan are on opposite sides of India. -
Language Movement
A strike is organized at the university of dhaka and students protest that the bengali language is not recognized in official use and an identity crisis begins. -
Pakistan Turmoil
The people of East Pakistan create the Awami league which works to try and gain independance from West Pakistan. -
Politicians Disreguard Bengali Language
In a speech governor-general Khawaja Nazimuddin defends the official use of Urdu only in bangladesh and pakistan. Uproar among bengali citizens begins. -
United Front
The United Front (a bengali political group) win elections in East Pakistan and begin acting for a seperation between bangladesh and Pakistan who continue to abuse power over bangladesh and denying them civil rights. -

Pakistan Continues harassing Bangladesh politically and economically. -
Six Point Movement
Mujibur makes six demands in order to put an end to West Pakistan's harassment of East Pakistan. -
Election
Awami League wins the race to elect a new leader (Sheikh Mujibur Rahman) but West Pakistan refuses to acknowledge these poll results. -
Bangladesh Created
Mujib is arrested and taken to west pakistan after a bloody war and East Pakistan gains independance from Pakistan after a year long war which involved india helping Bangladesh. -
Mujibur Returns
Following the war victory Mujibur returns to Bangladesh and is elected the new prime minister. -
Floods
Severe flooding occurs many crops were ruined and there was an estimated death toll of 28,000 and Bangladesh is in chaos. -
President and Assasination
Mujib is elected president but in august of that year he is assasinated and the country is under martial law soon after. -
