Benito grew up on the beaches of Puerto Rico, in the community of Vega Baja, with his parents and two younger brothers.

Her stage name comes from a childhood photo of her wearing bunny ears and posing with an unfriendly face. Hence the name 'Conejo Malo' which translated into English is 'Bad Bunny'
