This revolutionised the agricultural, minning, transportation and in general technology, having a high impact culturaly at the time.
One of the main advances in technology was in transportation of goods and people from horse and cart to steam power

English landed in Botany bay

Map of Botany BayThis was the first official recording of colinisation and landing on Australian soil.
This was to leed to the colinisation of Australia and shape Australia as it is known today.

First settlement in Austrlia

Jan 1, 1788

This was the first settlement formally established by the English in Austrlia.
The first settlement was built by convicts, for thier own accomodation.

Discovery of coal

The discovery of coal is significant because it is now largely exported from Australia and is also a natural resource therfore doesnt cost anything to make.
Coal has been included in my timeline because of it being a natural resource and because of the fact that is now one the largest exports that Australia has today, without this export Australia would be struggling for exports.

First use of a efficient steam engine small enough for transport

I have used this in my timeline because it was the start of transportation as we know it today. What was once a simple steam engine to propel a train has now evolved into a train, run from electricity it can now propel itself a hundreds of kilometres and hour, but for this to occur there had to be the building block of the simple steam engine.

Battery

This is such a significant invention in the history of the world becasue it seems that nearly everything we use has a battery in it, phones, laptops, the list is never ending.

Hobart settled

This has to be one of the most used inventions from the industrial revolution today. We all take the simple light for a given, but imagine having to use a candel. All over the world this simple invention is used on such a large scale.

Bank of New South Wales established

This was the first bank in Australias history.
The Bank did not reach its full potential untill the gold rush in the "50s"

Typewriter

This is such a significant invention because it is was the stepping stone for the laptop.
It was such a amazing invention at the time, because people didnt have to write with pen and paper, now they were able to type.

The bicylce was invented

This has been one of the greatest inventions of all time. The bicylce has evolved from a means of getting from "a to b" to a professional sport. Now the bicylce is regarded as the most greenhuose efficent way of getting around.

Antiseptics

Antiseptics are sucha big invention. These simple little cream, gels. etc. are such a big thing in the medical world. They can mean the difference of losing a leg or not. Back before them alot of cuts and things were getting infected and have be surgically amputated.

Gold rush is announced in Australia

A gold rush was announced in Austrlia. Many people flocked to Austrlia trying to find there weight in gold.
I have included this in my timeline because the gold rush made alot of people flock to australia therefore giving australia's economy a kick start. After the gold rush many of the people that flocked to Australia stayed giving Australia a population boost.

Eureka Stockade

I have included this becasue it was when the miners rose up against the banks for such high prices to mine and taht there profit wasnt going to the miners. This is a major point in mining history because it was the turnning point in which allowed anyone to mine without having to pay high taxes.

Tasmania formally known.

Tasmania was changed from Van Diemans land to Tasmania.

Ned Kelly Died

Nov 11, 1880

This has been included in my timeline because Ned kelly has left a major footprint in history. He has become an Australien icon, with his wity charm and his daring tactices of bush rangers

Federal Council established

Aug 27, 1885

This is the first recorded statment of there being a Federal council established. This is significant because it was the first time that there was a group of established leaders.

Australia became a federation

Jan 1, 1901

I have included this in my timeline becasue it was the day that Australia stood up for itself and became its own country. Australia has now grown to be one the largest and most popular countries in the whole world.

World War 1 starts

This was the first day of the World war, that was to last for four hard fought years.

Aeroplanes firsts used in war

Aeroplanes firsts used in war. This has been included in my timeline because aviation has changed the world of war as we know it, also more thought has been put into aviation and therefore we have better pilots today. It is also amazing to sit back and see the development in technology.

Anzac Day

This is a significant event because it is recognised around the world as a day where men gave up there lives for their country, bot only from Austrlia.

End of World War 1

Nov 11, 1918

This was the end of the bloodshed for the armies after 4 years of battle. When the troops returned home there was a baby boom, leading to a spike in the austrlian population.
