The first settlement was built by convicts, for thier own accomodation. -
The discovery of coal is significant because it is now largely exported from Australia and is also a natural resource therfore doesnt cost anything to make.
Coal has been included in my timeline because of it being a natural resource and because of the fact that is now one the largest exports that Australia has today, without this export Australia would be struggling for exports. -
I have used this in my timeline because it was the start of transportation as we know it today. What was once a simple steam engine to propel a train has now evolved into a train, run from electricity it can now propel itself a hundreds of kilometres and hour, but for this to occur there had to be the building block of the simple steam engine.

This has been one of the greatest inventions of all time. The bicylce has evolved from a means of getting from "a to b" to a professional sport. Now the bicylce is regarded as the most greenhuose efficent way of getting around.

Antiseptics are sucha big invention. These simple little cream, gels. etc. are such a big thing in the medical world. They can mean the difference of losing a leg or not. Back before them alot of cuts and things were getting infected and have be surgically amputated.

A gold rush was announced in Austrlia. Many people flocked to Austrlia trying to find there weight in gold.
I have included this in my timeline because the gold rush made alot of people flock to australia therefore giving australia's economy a kick start. After the gold rush many of the people that flocked to Australia stayed giving Australia a population boost. -
I have included this becasue it was when the miners rose up against the banks for such high prices to mine and taht there profit wasnt going to the miners. This is a major point in mining history because it was the turnning point in which allowed anyone to mine without having to pay high taxes.

This was the end of the bloodshed for the armies after 4 years of battle. When the troops returned home there was a baby boom, leading to a spike in the austrlian population.
