    Portuguese visit

    Portuguese visit
    Some evidence was found that Portuguese navigators did visit Australia around 1521 to 1524 but went on and decided to not colonise Australia and left Australia.
  • The Dutch arrived

     The Dutch arrived
    In 1606 either on Febuary or March the Dutch found Australia by a Dutch navigator Willem Janszon on the ship the Duyfken (which means little dove).
  • British in need for colonies

    Around the time 1769, the British had just colonised America for convicts. Along the time the convicts found guilty in England were put to America and work on farms. 14 years later America got independence from the British and all the convicts got sent back to England on the boats. So the British got over crowded prisons and needed to find new land to colonise so England prisons would not be crowded.

    Captain Cook arrived in the Endeavour Australia to coloinise the mini continent known as Australia. He arrived and found the east coast of Australia in 1770, Botany Bay and named the land New South Wales. Captain Cook felt relieved and happy that he might get a reward from the government that he found the land. As soon as the Aborigines found out that the English people were taking over, the Aborigines felt very angry.

    In 1786 the British Government decide to colonise the country Australia and use it as settlement for convicts and try to find useful resources.

    The British land in Botany Bay and the governor colonised the land and started puting convicts on the land and help some of the soilders there. Meanwhile the Aborigines get even more angry that more white men are coming to their land and building through their trees and taking the Aborigines resources for themselves. The convicts are feeling sad because they now new they were so faraway from English ground they were never going to see family or friends or even English ground ever again.

    Around the 1790s, it was a hard time for convicts because the food was running out and the government was not stable. The town was not stable at all and the food ships were late for the police and convicts.Then after the military ruled, Macquarie arrived and became the new governor due to the arrest of governor Bligh. Macquarie started encouraging the convicts to explore the land more, to build the bank and the hospital and the army barracks and to get more resources.The town was running again.
  • Tasmanian Aborigines

    Tasmanian Aborigines
    Well before the British colonization in 1803 with Tasmania, there were an Aboriginal tribe called Parlevar. There were estimated 3,000 to 15,000 of this tribe in Tasmania until the dreadful 1803 war between the English and the Parlevar. It ended long a time later and every single Aboriginal on Tasmania died of the English.

    The gold rush started in the 1850s because gold was found in several different locations in Australia starting the gold rush which attracted attention to the Chinese and immediately 1,000s of people went to join the gold rush hoping to make their fortune.

    On the 1st of January 1901, 6 of the colonies in the great land became one independent nation called Australia. All of the people in Australia felt happy that it all became the same money and same transportation and that all the colonies wouldn't fight for others things. The people of Australia also felt happy that they didn't really have to follow what the English wanted.The English probably felt neutral, silent and a bit upset because they have lost a lot of land and an entire colony.
  • World War 1

    World War 1 started in 1914 and went for 4 dreadful years for the soldiers going to war those soldiers families. After it ended all the people of Australia celebrated with joy especially the families who had their sons or daughters gone to war. But sadly for some families their sons and daughters may have died in war. For the soldiers that went to war and came back were probably relieved that they came back for them and family and for friends.
  • The Stolen Generation

    The Stolen Generation
    In 1915 the Australian Government launched a policy that Aboriginal children were taken from their parents because the English people didn't think that the Aboriginal parents were teaching them properly and the english police tricked the children to coming with the police and the police took them to the war as diggers or made them servants. In 1970 the parliament got a report and had to stop taking Aboriginal children.Then in 2007 Kevin Rudd and said sorry to the Aborigines about the stolen gen.
  • Australia now

    Australia now
    Though it has been a long time since Federation in Australia we still follow the same subjects and celebrate the same celebrations such as The Queen's birthday (although Western Australia do not celebrate when all though other states do) . We also note the royal family like when baby George was born and when his sister Charlotte was born. We also watch the Commonwealth games.
