    The Industrial Revolution began. In 1750 the industrial revolution took the modern world by storm. This is important to the history of not just Australia but the world. During this time there were many inventors and inventions.

  • Cook mapped and claimed the east coast

    This is important because this is when Captain James Cook mapped and claimed the east coast of Australia for Brittan, The east coast until this point was unknown to everyone.
  • First fleet arrived

    The first fleet arrived in Australia. On this first fleet was a mixture of convicts and setelers.
  • Two french ships arrived.

    Two French ships, La Recherche and L'Espérance, anchor at Recherche Bay, near the southernmost point of Tasmania at a time when England and France were racing around the globe to be the first to discover and colonise Australia.
  • Cotton Gin

    Cotton Gin
    The cotton gin is a machine designed to remove cotton from its seeds. The process uses a small screen and pulling hooks to force the cotton through the screen. It was invented by Eli Whitney. The cotton was then moved north to be made into cloth.
  • Interchangable parts

    Eli Whitney came up with the idea to use interchangeable parts in 1798 to make muskets. If standard parts were made by machine, then they could be assembled at the end much more efficiently than before.
  • Battery was invented

    This is important because there are many things today that are dependant on running off batteries. If this wasnt invented then there would be many things that we wouldnt be able to do today.

    I think that this is significant to austrailian history because it is the first major city settled in tasmania and is now the capitol of Tasmnaia.

    I think that this is very important to Australian history because of the history that it brings to Tasmania. It is good to go there and learn about the history of what happened to the convicts.
  • First plough was made

    This is important because it revolutionised the farming world. It was now much easier to farm feilds. John Deere is now a very sucsesful agricultural company.

    This is an important part of history for Australians. This was a period when there was a massive gold rush going on in australia and the government wanted to introduce a mining tax and the miners created their own flag and rose it. The govenment didnt like this at all and there was a stand off betwwen the miners and the soiliers of the govenment.
  • Ned Kelly was hanged

    On this day the famous and deadly bushranger Ned Kelly was hung. This is important to the history of Australia because he was such a famous bushranger.
  • First Australian cricket team

  • Women got the right to vote

    This is significant to Australian history because we were the second country in the world to allow women to vote. This is also important because it showed that Australia was no longer sexist.
  • Navy founded

    This is important to Australia because it was a stand for us. It showed that we can defend ouselves and we didnt need anyone to help defend us.
  • World War 1 began

    World War 1 began
    This is very important to the history of Australia because of the way that it had such a huge impact on the country in more ways than one.

    This is important to the history of Australia because the soldiers that fought there were fighting to save Australia. The bravery that they showed is a credit to the country.

    This is important because it showed that the fighting between the countries in Europe was over and all soldiers could return home to their families.
