The industrial revolution was the time that machines replaced people in the factories. It was also a time of peace and prosperity in great Britain. This boosted population because food was easier to access and people wouldn't starve. Also there was less people working in the grime and harsh environments of the factories and therefore less people dying to the diseases this lifestyle produced. -
The tale of Ned Kelly is contestable because there are two very different versions. One is the recount of Ned himself and the other is the recount of the family of a man he killed. Ned’s tale is one of threats and self-defence whereas the other is one of innocence and duty. The reason neither source is reliable is because both recounts have a chance of being false. With only 2 survivors, Ned and one officer, it is truly a case of one man's word against another. -
The ending of British hegemony and the Napoleonic wars meant freedom and peace for the people of Britain and France and also meant the fall of the first ever European empire. this peace and freedom meant that there would be no more war for another 100 years to come (the first world war). -
Tasmania’s Black War was the most intense forefront conflict in Australian history. It was a fight between the most culturally and technologically distant humans to have ever made contact. At stake was nothing less than control of the land, and the survival of their people. About 1000 lives were lost, but the loss of cultures and histories came at much more of a cost. The Black War would be common knowledge, had it happened elsewhere. 200 years on still most Australians are uneducated about it. -
Socialism has many other names including utopianism, anarchism, soviet communism and social democracy. It was created in France during the French revolution. Socialism is social and economic doctrine that calls for public rather than private ownership of property with generally natural resources. Negatives of socialism can include slow economic growth, lack of effort due to lesser rewards which penultimately resulted in reduced incentives and negative social and political effects.

The town of Beersheba was a crucial trade point for the Turkish soldiers during the first world war. The light horse brigade was starving, thirsty, low on ammo, poorly cared for and ill spirited. They were close to Beersheba, close enough to attack. Charging all their troops towards the settlement, but the Turks were waiting in the trenches in front of the town. The light horse brigade ran fast enough to jump straight over the trenches attacking from behind and taking Beersheba for themselves.
