    Columbus Discovered America
    If Columbus had not discovered America, We would still think the world was flat. We would not be the country that we are today. This is important because we would be limited on space in the Earth and we might feel stranded in one place wondering if there were new lands out there.
  • Benjamin Franklin's Kite Experiment

    Benjamin Franklin's Kite Experiment
    There is no exact date on when her conducted this experiment but it is predicted that he did it on June 5th, 1750. This Expirement led to the invetion of the lighting Rod. This is important because if this would not have happened we would not have electricity of any kind.
  • The Revolutionary War Starts

    The Revolutionary War Starts
    The Revolutionary War went from 1775 to 1783. It began as a war between the Kingdom of Great Britian and the United States, gradually, it expanded to a global war between Britain on one side and the United States, France, Netherlands, and Spain on the other side. This is important because the Colonies did not like to pay high taxes to the King of England and if that didn't happen, we would still be paying taxes to England.
  • American Flag Was Born

    American Flag Was Born
    Betsy Ross created the first United States flag. The flag had thirteen stripes and and thirteen stars to represent the original thirteen colonies and states. It is important becuase that flag represents America in everything!
  • Declaration of Independence Signed

    Declaration of Independence Signed
    The Declaration of Independence was signed by the Continental Congress on July 4th, 1776. This said that the thirteen American colonies called themselves independent states. Putting them no longer a part of the British Empire. This event was important because it set America apart from Britian and if this would not have happened, then, we wouldn't have become the role model to other countries like we are today.
  • U.S. Constitution Signed

    U.S. Constitution Signed
    The U.S. Constitution is the Supreme Law of America. The First three articles establish the rules and serperate the power of the government. This is still really important beacuse without this we would not have any rights and responsibilities.
  • First President Goes into Office

    First President Goes into Office
    George Washington was elected the first president of the United States in 1788 by a unanimous choice. He served two terms in office and was one of the Fouding Fathers of the U.S. He served as the commander-in-chief during the American Revolutionary War. This is important because the system works out well still today because we still elect a president each term.
  • Civil War Begins

    Civil War Begins
    The Civil War occured for many reasons. One of the most imortant reasons the war occured was because of slavery. Another reason was the economic differences between the North and the South.
  • Civil War Ends

    Civil War Ends
    On April 9th, 1865, The General Robert E. Lee surrenders the Army of Northern Virginia to the general of the United States Armies. This ended the war!
  • Abraham Lincoln Assassination

    Abraham Lincoln Assassination
    Abraham Lincoln was our Sixteenth president and in many peoples eyes the best president to date. He was at the Peterson House Theater observing a play when John Wilkes Booth came up behind him and shot him in the head with a Philadelphia Deringer he died early the Next morning. It is important to us today beacuse it was the first time a pesident had ever gotten killed in office and was very traumatizing to the people at that time and now we have have better protection for our president
