Phineas Fogg seemed to lose the wager / the bet by arriving 5 minutes late. He asked Aouda to marry him. Passepartout then informed Fogg that he was actually a full day early by crossing the International Date Line. Mr Fogg won the gamble and restored his pride! He married Aouda.
