    In 1922, the Italian government collapsed again. Mussolini demanded that King Victor Emmanuel III that his party form the next government. Tens of thousands of Mussoilini's supporters marched on Rome to show their support in Mussolini. King Victor panicked and decided against using the military on the fascists. Victor made Mussoilini Prime Minister.

    • In 1923, he passed the Acerbo Law which stated that the party with the greatest number of seats would automatically win two thirds of the seats in the parliament.

    Mussolini removed the King's power to dismiss government ministers, banned any other political parties, and established complete censorship of the press. He now referred to himself as Il Duce(The Leader).
