  • IT'S A DRAW

Although many Northerners consider the "retreat" of Lees forces to be a moral victory, militarily speaking it could be deemed a draw. This declared that all slaves in rebelious states were from that point on free men. This also allowed for previously black slave to become an enlisted man, fighting for freedom, quite iterally.
