Fortunately, for the allies, Operation Orient was canceled in early 1943 because of disastrous defeats for the Nazis.

In total, between July 1942 and September 1944, an estimated of 97,776 Jews were transported.

    On this day, the first german troops enter the city of Stalingrad. Stalingrad was a city in southern Russia. Their arrival quickly turned into a battle between the Soviet Union and the Germans. It was one of the most deadly assaults in history, more than 1.8 million deaths because of close quarter combats and air raids against civilians. On February 2nd 1943, the Germans surrendered and the remaining soldiers were taken into captivity.
