The first known secret police were called Cheka, when Lenin came to power he abolished the Cheka. In 1922, Stalin founded the GPU. In 1954 it was renamed again to the KGB which is it's well known name today.

Napolean starts the puppies in training to become his "police" in the story. They punish innocent animals and beat other animals until they confess to crimes the poor animals did not commit.

The reds vs. the whites. The red army was the Bolsheviks which were led by Lenin and the white army included monarchists, militarists, and, for a short time, foreign nations. The foreign nations included Britain, France, Poland, and the USA.

Napolean like Stalin, never got along with Snowball (Trotsky). Napolean uses the dogs to chase Snowball away. Napolean wants all the power to himself.
