  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    The Boston Massacre happened on March 5, 1770. Patriots were throwing snowballs, ice, and shouting at British soldiers. The Brtish soldiers were backed up against a wall. The soldiers panicked and fired into the crowd, killing five people and wounding others. This event was important to the American Revolution because it got many colonists to join the Revolution.   • Adopting the Declaration of Independence

    Adopting the Declaration of Independence
    On July 4, 1776, the Second Continental Congress official adopted the Declaration of Independence. This was important because it had many colonists join the Revolution and it officially Declared the Colony's independence from Britain.   • Paoli Massacre

    On September 21, 1777, British soldiers attacked an American Army base while the army was sleeping. The British leader Lord Grey ordered them to stab the sleeping Americans with their bayonets. Lord Grey also told the soldiers that even if any Americans surrendered, kill them anyway. This event was important because many Americans got very mad at the British for killing Americans after they had surrendered. Now, some Americans would retaliate and kill the British after they surrendered.
  • Valley Forge

    American Soldiers stayed and trained at Valley Forge from December 19, 1777 to June 19, 1778. There was no battle at Valley Forge, but many soldiers died do to the conditions. The conditions were so bad that 1 out of 10 people left. It was very cold and harsh, and the army was very low on supplies. While at Valley Forge, the army trained hard for several months. This event was important because when the army left Valley Forge in the spring, they were better trained. Also, many soldiers died.
  • Battle of Camden

    The Battle of Camden was on August 16, 1780. In the Battle of Camden, Horatio Gates put militias up against the most highly trained part of the British army. The American army suffered heavy losses. Nearly 2,000 Patriots were killed or captured. Horatio Gates fled all the way home right away on his horse. This event was important because George Washington assigned Nathanael Greene to be the new commander of the Southern army. Also, many Americans were killed or captured.
  • Surrender at Yorktown

    Surrender at Yorktown
    Lord Cornwallis and his army were in Yorktown. A large French fleet from the West Indies blocked off Chesapeake bay. George Washington came from the north and trapped Lord Cornwallis on the peninsula. On October 19, 1781, Lord Cornwallis surrendered his force of about 8,000. This event was important because Britain lost a big part of their army. This eventually caused the end of the war.
