In the 1700s this british tea company was about to go bankrupt so the british king made a law that the only company people can by tea from is the british india tea company so they wont go bankrupt. But the colonies got mad because they made all they other tea shop sell really expensive tea. Another reason they were mad is because they did the law without asking the colonies which is called taxtion without representation. Also every time they bought tea they would get taxed. -

The colonist wanted to take back the ports that the british were controlling . british general william howe knew the ports were important to them . to protect their control of the ports he set up his troops on two nearby hills. he wanted to be ready if the americans attacked. in the middle of the night on june 16 1775 american troops got ready to attack they snuck in behind the british. the american built dirt walls to get ready to attack. the next morning, americans surprised the british. -

These men somehow beat the british in less than a hour. this win was a key moment in the war. before this battle had won all the battles in the south. victory at kings mountain set british a message that the colonist living the south supported america.
