    Sons of Liberty

    The Sons of Liberty were a group of men in a secret organization that protested against British taxes and laws. Members include Sam Adams, John Adams, Benedict Arnold, John Hancock, Patrick Henry, Joseph Warren and Paul Revere. Some of the Members were wealthy, others were poor. Sam Adams was a lawyer of Boston and the leader of the Sons of Liberty, he strongly believed in Colonist rights.     Stamp Act
    The Stamp Act was passed in 1765. The reason the Stamp Act was passed was because Britain had to pay for the damaged caused by the French And Indian War. So the King decided to tax the colonists. This act taxes every printed paper they used such as newspapers and playing cards. The colonists were very angry.This was very important to this time period because it was the first act passed by Britain after the French and Indian War.

    The Boston Masacre
    On March 5, 1770 some colonist boys were yelling and throwing snowballs at the British soldiers on King street. People gather around the street. They started throwing rocks so the soldiers got angry and began shooting. 5 people were killed. The colonist called this the Boston Massacre and began a revolt that led to the American Revolution.
