  • French and Indian War

    The French and Indian war was a war fought for control over land which had many advantage points for survival. The war was between Britain and the French. The Indian's would help the French and the British in the fight. Britain also had the colonists on their side. Britain won the war and controls the land. Britain also claims that colonists can not go west of the Appalachian mountains and are soon taxed to help pay for the war. 1754-1763
  • Sugar Act

    The Sugar Act was a tax placed on colonists to help pay for the war. It taxed sugar an molasses imported or exported out of the country. This upset the colonists because it began taxation without representation.
  • Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act made colonists pay for an official seal for any paper products that they buy. This act was made to help pay for the French and Indian war. This made the colonists upset because it began taxation without representation.
  • Townshend acts

    Townshend acts were acts taxes placed on tea, glass, paints, and paper. The purpose of these acts were to pay for military and governors in the 13 colonies.
  • Boston Massacre

    The Boston Massacre was when British soldiers were outside of a bank when suddenly the soldiers shot rioting colonists who had been threatening the troops. This caused many controversal thinking from the Loyalists and the colonists, followed by a trial to prove two soldiers guilty while the rest were innocent.
  • Intolerable acts

    The intolerable acts were a set of laws Britain put on the colonists as punishment for the Boston Tea party. Boston Harbor was shut down and colonists were required to give soldiers living quarters and food or else risk arrest. Any court case with the colonists was taken to court in Britain, and some of the land from the 13 colonies was lost to Quebec.
  • Boston Tea Party

    50 patriots boarded a British ship and dumped one million dollars worth of tea overboard. This caused Britain to get very mad at the colonists and thought they must pay for what they had done. The patriots had done this because of a tax on tea that was only 3 cents. The colonists dressed as the natives to try and avoid getting caught.
  • The First Continental Congress

    The first continental congress discussed how they could help Boston and sent a letter to Britain discussing how they want to break free from Britain. Britain thought it was a puny attempt, so they sent more troops to the colonies. The congress tried and trained ordinary people with no experience in the military to help them in defense within the colonies. This lead to the American Revolution.
