    French & Indian War
    The British wanted to make trade with the Natives for fur yet the land was French Territory.The French didnt want the British having acess to the fur' therefore the French made allies with Natives & and fought British colonist. This allowed the colonist to go further west for territory. The colonist wanted to trade fur with the indians yet the French didnt want the British and Natives trading. The colonist were angered by the Frenchs decision and wanted acess to the fur trade.
  • Writs of Assistance

    Writs of Assistance
    This gave Great Britain soldiers the right to check ships that imported & exported goods through the colonist. This made the British merchants feel as if their privacy was being invaded and had no rights to privacy. This didnt really anger the colonist as much as it angered merchants. Therefore the colonist didnt really have a problem as to the merchants. 1761--72
  • Treaty of Paris

    Treaty of Paris
    This document gave the colonist more land such as Canada, Florida and all east of the Missisippi River. The colonist defeated France and claimed land. This also benifited fur trade with natives. Colonist were happy that they could expand out west.
  • Proclamation of 1763

    Proclamation of 1763
    The Proclamation of 1763 over ruled the Treaty of Paris and restricted the colonist from west of the App. Mountains.
    The colonist were prohibited from land they once owned. This probably angered the colonist due to limitation of land.
  • Sugar Act of 1764

    Sugar Act of 1764
    The reason of this law was to put taxes on sugar and other goods to make revenue for Great Britain. This meant the colonist had more taxes along with the stamp taxes. This act cut colonist on money and boosted Great Britains economy.
  • Stamp Act of 1765

    This act put taxes on stamps that were on legal documents, this was to benefit Great Britain. This was causing colonist to give tax money to Great Britain. The British were angered to have to pay more money to Great Britain
  • Townshend Act

    Townshend Act
    This act was for British to tax household items such as glass, paint, oil, lead, paper, and tea. This was to boost revenue for Great Britain. The colonist were being taxed to pay off the previous war between them, Natives & French. The British Colonist were once again angerd by taxes and boycotted.
  • Quartering Act 1770

    Quartering Act 1770
    The Quartering Act enforced colonist to house and supply soldiers due to the fact that Great Britain couldnt pay to house the soldiers. Therefore colonist had to make room/ space to make accomidations for soldiers. This act led to boycotts and angered colonist, their privacy was being invaded.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    The Bristish started a riot and wanted to rebel against the soldiers. This led to soldiers reacting violently and shooting colonist dead, beating them. This left colonist loosing trust within the soldiers seeing that the soldiers took this kind of action.
  • Tea Act of 1773

    Tea Act of 1773
    The Tea Act: This was an act to help the East India Company that had loads of unsold tea. Therefore the tea was to be shipped to the colonies and sold. The colonies merchants were being forced to pay more on tea. This is was gave birth to the Boston Tea Party of 1773.
  • 1st Continental Congress

    56 delegates met in Phil. to converse over some acts wanted appealed by the King. This angered the colonist due to unfair/ uncalled for acts. Here are a few of the delegates:
    John Adams, John Jay, William Livingston, Henry Middleton, George Washington. The delegates also agree'd that George Washingto was to be commander of the Continental Army.
  • Second Continental Congress

    Second Continental Congress met at the State House in Philadelphia.The Second Continental Congress meeting started with the battle of Lexington and Concord fresh in their memories. The New England militia were still encamped outside of Boston trying to drive the British out of Boston.
  • Give Me Liberty

    This phrase was included in Patrick Henery's speech in the Virginia House of Burgesses meet in 1775. This gave colonist the eagerness to have liberty. This raged and fueled the Revolutionary war even more. The colonist wanted liberty from British yet lacked the service. Therefore it was death and war.
  • Battle of Lexington and Concord

    This was the battle between the British & Colonist. 700 British men met the few colonist and destroyed them. The colonist were angered by this defeat and this motivated them for libery even more. This is one of the steps that led to angering the colonist and begininng the Revolutionary War.
  • Ft. Ticonderoga

    Ethan Allen & Col. Arnold Benedict led men to overtake the British fort and eventually over took it.
  • BunkerHill

    A colonist General was planning on send troops out to empty hills for an advantage to visualize enemies ahead of time. This angered the British and they planned to asault the colonist & by the third trial they finally took over the semi-fort. The term " Don't fire until you see the whites of their eyes" got them demolished. British: Won Militia: Lose
  • Common Sense

    This pamplet was written by Thomas Paine. This roared the words INDEPENDENCE to colonist. This was the next step to Paine. The pamplet was to gain more support for American independence. This bashed the British ways and stated why the colonist deserved their independence.
  • Declaration of Independence

    On June in 1776 the Continental Congress had a meet about having free states and to break off from Britain. Instead of having delegates agree, they just made a commitee for making the draft and selected Thomas Jefferson to write the draft out. He selected words from previous philosopher John Locke and on July 4, 1776 he finished the draft and that is another reason why we have the 4th of July... JEFFERSON FINISHED!
  • Battle of New York

    Gen. Howe (British side) landed on Staten Island while Washington was settling men in Manhatten and Long Island. Even after building a fort to defend there were only 5 soldiers on a passing and British overtook the soldiers and fired the town leaving the town to surrender.
  • Battle of Princeton

    Washington captured another 300 British soldiers. Washington also won and drove the British out of New Jersey, almost for good. Americans drove British out of Princeton before the Cornwallis had a chance to return to defend his town.
  • Valley Forge

    Washingtons men endured a very harsh winter in PA., where many endured frost bite, hunger and many had no clothes and turned weak. Most of Washingtons men died.
  • Battle of Saratoga

    28 Sep 1781
    Ended the Revolutionary War. British General Lord Cornwallis moved his troops to Virginia. Washington set traps and James Armistead was a double spy and gave Washington information. A fleet of French battleships sailed and Cornwallis was then captured. Washington would lead almost a month attack. Cornwallis surrendered on October 17, 1781 and the Americans had finally won their independence!
  • Battle of Yorktown

    Gen. George Washington along with French Comte de Rochambeau clashed again Gen. Cornwallis where British army was finally defeated and this was known to be the last conflict within the American Revolution.
  • Treaty of Paris

    This stated that colonist land would expand out to all land east of the Missisippi River including Florida. Due to the fact that America won its independence, it was no long connected with Great Britain and could now expand. Signed by John Adams, Benjamin Franklin and John Jay, representing the King George III (David Hartley).
