    Became a Federal Holiday annouced during the Civil War by President Abraham Lincoln as a "National Day of Thanksgiving and Praise..." Is celebrated on the fourth Thursday in November with a large gathering and dinner that resemble the Harvest Gathering of the first Pilgrims and usually includes a Turkey, Duck, or Goose.

    This holiday is celebrated on the third Monday in February in honor of the first President, George Washington. Over the years it has become collectively known as Presidents Day and is an observance of all Presidents past and current. Some ways to celebrate Presidents Day are to read the Gettysburg Address in the quiet of your home, visit the Lincoln Memorial and Ford's Theater in Washington, D.C., or visit a Civil War battlefield.
