Jamestown is the first settlement that the British created. It is in Massachusetts. Lots of people died the first year of the settlement because of the winter or hunger, disease, etc. The settlement almost failed but it did not. -

The Boston massacre was not really a massacre at all, at least 5 colonist died in the fight. But it caused even more tension between the colonist and great Britain. The massacre was one of the many rebellions of the colonies. They felt like they could rule better then great Britain. -
Boston tea party
The Boston tea party was another one of the strikes against the british. The colonist had dressed up as Indians to conceal there identity. The British had raised the prices for tea and only selled it with one company. So the colonist went on one of the ships and threw all the tea into the Boston river. -
American revolution
The american revolution was a war between the British and colonist. This inevitable war began in April 19,1775. There were so many battles and death from colonist and britain. But in the end the colonies got what they wanted freedom, and so the United States of America began. -

The Louisiana purchase was bought from France or 15 million dollars. It had doubled the united states. The president who had bought this land and had sent explorer's Louis and Clark to scout the land was Andrew Jackson. -

The trail of tears was when the Indians were forced from there home and sent to live on reserved territory. This event started may 16,1836 and ended in June 1,1839. In this tragic event many lives were lost on the trek to the territory. -
Mexican- American war
The war started when Texas want to be its own country but mexico did not want that. So at first the war was called the Mexican- Texas war. But when Texas became part of the u.s mexico wanted the line to be the nueces river but the u.s wanted the Rio grande. So after a long time it was decides that the line would be the Rio grande. -

The civil war was a war between the north and the south. When president Abraham Lincoln was elected the south thought that he would bane slaves in america. The south "needed" slaves for their plantations. They decided to seperat from the u.s. the president said no. So they rebelled and the north fought back and the war began -
reconstruction
The reconstruction period was after the horrible civil war. It was a time to rebuild the country. The new President had decided that the u.s need peace. So that is what they did and like all great things it soon came to in end. The reconstruction period started in 1865 and ended in 1877
