    NATO is formed after WWII to help establish and maintain world peace. The American dream is here because now countries can work together to better themselves without the worry of another large scale international conflict.

    Jonas Salk tests his Polio vaccine. Finally bringing an end to this previous thought unstoppable disease. Salk was an example of the American dream because he saw a problem and tried to fix it. He was seeking a better life for everyone in a world free of polio.

    Brown vs. Board of Education ruled that segregation of schools was illegal. This allowed all Americans regardless of skin color to go to a school they wanted to. The American dream of wanting to better oneself and achieve greatness is now allowed. School availability/ opportunity is no longer holding anyone back.

    Dr. Martin Luther King is successfully able to organize a bus boycott in Montgomery, Alabama. MLK is taking on an issue he says and is doing everything in his power to make a change. He is using the ideas in the American dream to effect change and bring attention to racism in America.

    Congress establishes the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. The creation of NASA showed America was looking beyond its borders and even its atmosphere. They were shooting for the stars (literally). NASA showed that America wanted to explore and become the country looking to space. Showing the world that America wanted to achieve greatness and to keep improving herself.

    MLK gives his "I Have a Dream" speech in Washington DC. He is dreaming a world free of segregation and where his kids can grow up in a word without hatred. His speech embodied the ideals of the American dream of being able to better yourself and to be your best self.

    Officially outlaws discrimination in the United States. When this was passed it now allowed all Americans to achieve greatness and pursue their American dream without hindrance or interference from anyone. America was truly becoming a land of equal opportunity for everyone.

    Neil Armstrong is the first man to walk on the moon. America is the first country to make it to the moon. America was shooting for the stars and she got there. The American spirit was high and its people believed they could do anything.
