    Confederate troops under command of Col Edward Johnson defended allegheny mountain from union troops led by gen Robert Milroy. The confederate troops fought out the attacking union troops and then later were supplied with more soldiers.

    Marching back from Fort Monroe a union army led by Maj. Gen. George B. bumped into a confederate army led by Maj. Gen. John B. Magruder. The Confederate army fled to their base higher in the mountain and were brought reinforcements, while that was happening the union army constructed siege weapons and launched an attack. After that attack failed by the time McClellan got authorized to attack again the confederate army had fled away.
