The Quechua Danza de Tijeras performed by the indigenous dancers of Peru traditionally set in the high Andean mountains of south-central Peru. The FOLK CULTURE(small rural heterogeneous population with cohesive cultural traits) of the Andean people have a CUSTOM( a practice that a group of people routinely follows) where the dansaq(dancers), children of a mountain spirit Wamani, go through a rite of passage, earning a name associated with "their" Wamani. Through ASSIMILATION(when people lose their different traits) the Catholics forced the Andean people to incorporate the Catholic calendar into their rituals. Now the Scissor dance is associated with the birth of Jesus and is usually performed before and after Christmas.

Nihon Minzoku Buyo, or Japanese folk dance is a performing art, handed down for many generations by all the ordinary people of japan. For the people of Japan, dance is a regular part of their lives and much of Japanese folk dance is a result of the combination of the SHINTOISM (a religion in Japan related to Buddhism, based on nature and ancestor worship) and BUDDHISM ( a religion that evolved from hinduism). The central theme of these folk dances is comforting the dead ancestor spirits. In the Japanese style of dance, they use many props such as Umbrellas, masks, fans, and swords. The Japanese keep their CULTURAL IDENTITY (one's belief in belonging to a cultural aspect) in the dance because the don’t succumb to the ballet style with the desire to escape the earth. Their movements instead consist of a low center of gravity actions to stay grounded connected to the earth which is important to them in their religion and ways of life.
