  • Navigation act

    Navigation act
    Made to ensure that only England benefited from trade with the colonies. Because of this, colonists began to smuggle since England started to raise prices on goods.
  • Proclamation of 1763

    Proclamation of 1763
    The British stopped western expansion to stop fighting. Colonist were outraged because they just fought a war for the West and the British ignored their claims.
  • Sugar act

    Sugar act
    Parliment lowered the tax on sugar because when the tax was high, nobody pay it.
  • Stamp act

    Stamp act
    A tax that all legal documents had to have a stamp. Colonist started to boycott British goods and signed non-importation acts.
  • Declaratory act

    Declaratory act
    Stated that Parliament had the right to tax and make decisions for the British colonies.
  • Townshend acts

    Townshend acts
    Taxs on glass, tea, paper, paint, and lead. The colonist formed more boycotts and the daughters of liberty.
  • Tea act

    Tea act
    Allowed the Brithish East India Company a monopoly over tea trade. Instead of shipping to merchants, they sent tea strait to shopkeepers. Merchants called for a boycott that stopped ships from entering ports. This created the Boston Tea Party.

    The Coercive acts were ment to punish the people of massachusetts for resistance aganst British law. They closed British ports until Massachusetts payed for the ruined tea, and made they house British soilders. The coloniest ended up calling these the Intolerable acts.
  • Quedec Act

    Quedec Act
    The act set up a government for Quebec, and gave them the area west of the Appalachians and land North of the Ohio river. The coloniest reactied by calling this an Intolerable act.
