    Pre-History
    The first findings of human presence in Albania traces back all the way to 1600 BC. Most of the findings were in the city of Tirane and also in Sarande. The Albanians were strongly connected with the Greeks and Macedonians because they were neighbors.

    Byzantine Rule

    Albania became in rule of the Romans and eventually under rule of the Byzantine Empire. Feudalism spought up in Albania during this time as well, with many becoming serfs and peasants in the areas. The Byzantine Empire would later fall to the Germans and Croats in 1347.

    Skanderbeg

    Skanderbeg was one of the greatest military leaders in world history. He stopped the Ottoman Empire from invading all of Europe and Albania throughout his 20 years of service. He succesfully stopped every Turkish attack against him and stopped the movement of Islam to western Europe. Albanian's now recognize him to be bigger than Napolean and Alexander the Great.

    Close Ties With Kosovo

    Ever since almost the beginning of the 1900's, the area of Kosovo and Albania have always had a close tie. Kosovo has 99% of its population as Albanians and want to be one nation. Albania has helped Kosovo seceed from Yugoslavia and Serbia and make it its own nation. They support them all they can and have recognized them as well. The ties with Albania and Kosovo is great
  • Albanian Independence

    Albanian Independence
    On November 28, 1912, Albania gained independence from the once strong Ottoman Empire. The Albanians began to revolt against the Ottoman Empire to become their own independent nation.     World War 1
    This war interuppted much of the government involvement in Albania. Albania was occupied Austria-Hungary, Italy, and France. The Prince William left Albania due to a Peasant Revolt, and turmoil began in Albania. Italy took over much of Albania while the Treaty of London granted land for Serbia and Greece in Albania as well.
  • Zogu Government

    Zogu Government
    Ahmed Bey Zogu esetablished one of the very first governements in Albania. Zogu stayed in the capital of Tirane during an attack on the government officials. He was helped by the British and stopped the attacks just on time. The government was also a capitalist government, a lot like the U.S.

    World War 2

    During World War 2, Albania became heavily conquered by Italy and Mussolini. His ambition was to create an Italian Empire starting by taking over Albania. He would later put in a government system in Albania and use that to his advantage. Later, Germans began to take over the land that Italy owned and owned Albania shortly after. Albania revolted against this movement and eventually broke away from the invasions of WW2.

    Socialist Albania

    Enver Hoxha was the prime ruling during the socialist movement in Albania. Albania had close ties with Soviet Union, Yugoslavia, and China during this time. The country began to be able to support itself and defend others from trying to colonize again. There was also a movement of no religious practice which was ended off quickly. Enver Hoxha later died and Alia was put in power. He led a socialist Albania turn into a parlimentary system.

    During the recent years, Albania has been trying its hardest to join the European Union, They were rejected in 2010, but eased the visa process for the Albanians. The government and economy of Albania has steadily began to get better. Albania hopes to be apart of the EU soon.
