  • Amir is Born

    Amir is born some time in the summer of 1963

  • Mohamed Dowd Khan Seizes power of nation

    While King Zahir Shah was on vacation his cousin and former prime minister preformed a military coup and seized control of the government.

  • Amir Turns 13

    Amir turns 13 and Baba invites over 400 people to a large party.

  • Mohamed Dowd Khan is overthrown by PDPT

    Mohamed Dowd Khan and his family were killed in the attack.

  • Soviets enter Afghanistan

    Because the PDPT was a communist party they held close ties with the soviets.

  • Amir and Baba flee Afghanistan

    Due to the Soviets invading Afghanistan Amir and his Father move to Afghanistan and then America.

  • Amir and Baba Move to America

    They move to Freemont CA, (the exact time isn't known)

  • Soviets leave Afghanistan

    After ten years of war the Soviets leave Afghanistan.

  • Amir Returns to America

    After returning to Kabul for the first time in more than 15 years Amir comes home with Hassans child Sohrab.

  • Northern Alliance Leaders are killed

    The Taliban assassinate the leaders of the Northern Alliance which was created to combat the Taliban.

  • Al Qaeda attack the twin towers in New York

    Two days after the North Alliance leaders are assassinated Al Qaeda launches their attack on America.

  • Ashraf Ghani is elected as President of Afghanistan

  • Taliban Leader Osama Bin Laden is killed in Pakistan
