  • Proclamation of 1763

    Proclamation of 1763
    The Proclamation of 1763 was created to stop the purchase of land west of the Appalachians, and to reduce contact with Indians in order to create less conflict. The colonists did not like this because they felt as if their right to travel was taken away.

    Quartering Act

    The Quartering Act was created to make the colonists house British soldiers in barracks, and if there were too may soldiers then extra places such as local inns, livery stables, and ale houses were used. The colonists did not like this because they were being taxed to support the army.
  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    The Sugar Act was created to maintain the army and to pay back debts, and to stop the smuggling of sugar and molasses. The things that were taxed were sugar and molasses. The colonists did not like how they were being taxed on this and began to boycott some items.

    The Currency Act stopped colonial governments from issuing paper money and all the debts had to be paid in British Currency. The English colonists did not like this and protested against it.

    The Stamp Act was created to increase money to pay off debts, and to pay for protecting the colonies, it taxed things like legal documents, almanacs, newspapers, etc. The English colonists did not like this and began to boycott British goods and began to riot and attack.

    The Declaratory Act was created in order for Parliament to assert their right to create laws and to govern the colonists.The colonists did not like the Declaratory Act so they protested against it.

    .The Boston Massacre was an incident in Boston where soldiers fired their rifles at patriots and killed five of them. The troops were in Boston to enforce the Townsend Act. All of the soldiers who killed colonists were charged for murder except two.

    Townshend Acts
    The Townshend Acts were created to create new taxes and to take away some of the freedom of the colonists. The things that were taxed were glass, lead, paint, paper, etc. The colonists were displeased with this and began to boycott British goods.

    The Tea Act authorized the East India Company to sell tea directly to the American distributors, without the American wholesalers.The colonists did not like this and protested which was the Boston Tea Party.

    The Boston Tea Party was carried out by the colonists, they disguised themselves as Indians and snuck onto three vessels to dump 342 canisters of tea into the Boston harbor.
  • Intolerable Act

    The Intolerable Acts were created as a way to punish the colonists for what they did at the Boston Tea Party, and to restrict their liberty and expansion of colonies. The Intolerable Acts consisted of the Boston Port Act, Massachusetts Government Act, Administration Justice Act, Quartering Act of 1774, and Quebec Act 1774.
